Happy to welcome Ashton on board, one of the finest London selectors, the man behind Left Alone party/mix series. Instead of choosing the rarest top five records he owns, he chose 5 tracks that he found searching through Bandcamp. Ashton “kept it nice and sweet”. Enjoy!
Sweet Energy – Feel of reality [Zona, 1995]
I’ve pretty much played this one out ever since i came across it last year. A euro house/trance tape Lithuania from 1995.There’s few other nice bits on the tape but this one stands way above the rest.
Torchey Blanc – Halloween [Chapter Music, 1993]
Pretty odd/weird and fits in perfectly with it being Halloween – of the Australian Chapter Music label, this tape from 93′ is a Sonic Youth Tribute.
Laurent Pernice – L’Incendie [The Sublunar Society, 2018]
Laurent’s made some amazing music in the passed! Details LP being a standout for me. I was searching to see if there’s any old releases by him on Bandcamp which unfortunately there’s not much around. But what i did come across was his more recent work, Which is checking out! Great to see he’s still releasing amazing stuff.
Martin J. Birckenstock – Blackland (Behind The Curtain) [Ladd-Frith Music, 1991]
This CD came out on Julie Frith/Brian Ladd’s Ladd-Frith label which has release some great stuff in the passed. This comp caught my attention with it featuring so many good artists from the likes of Nightmare Lodge, Cyrnia, A Thunder Orchestra, Psyclones and so on… I’ve had a look to see if there’s anymore releases from MJB but it seems that this track was just a one off – i get the impression that MJB is by Julie/Brian themselves. Shame there’s not more releases under the alias.
Radio Prague – Nouvelle Vie [KZ Methoden, ?]
Radio Prague are a Belgium duo that i came across online – Not long noticed that Bernard Petit that’s in the duo is in a number of bands, the 48 Camera’s group being one of them. This cassette’s pretty out there compared to that stuff, way more punk/noise/industrial sounding but the track i’ve selected isn’t so harsh compared to the rest.
